Did you try to go on the tvs menu and scan for digital channels? They should get all of the local channels in HD. (NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, CW, etc.) If you still receive any channels, you should try to call Sanyo for more help. If you got those channels before, you should now get them in HD.

Men and women communicate very differently, which can often lead to consequences, as it sounds like you have discovered. While this is a pretty obvious statement, both genders still act like the other understands them completely. Women have a hard time understanding that men understand them, because they understand each other so well. It took a long time for me to realize that my husband was not being dense or mean, he just really did not catch on to the subtleties or nuances of female behavior. Once your wife realizes that, it will be better for both of you because she will learn to say what she really means.
Women will frequently do things like say fine" when they are really not, or say they want a gift when they do, and there are many reasons behind it. These are as varied as there are women, so it is hard to tell. However, a few general reasons could include that she is "testing" you, in a sense-she wants to know if you care enough to keep asking, or to get her a gift anyways because you are thinking of her and love her. While men are often satisfied once for all time with an assurance of love, women need to be constantly reassured and reminded. Another reason could be that she want to appear selfish.
One of the best things you could do would be to simply ask her why she got upset when she specifically said she want anything. This will force her to think about her actions and motives, and will get the two of you talking. Make sure to assure her that you love her and want to care for her, but you understand her subtlety and you thought you were doing exactly what she wanted.
That being said, always get her something for holidays even if she says she want anything (gift or things like that work well if she really want more stuff like jewelry or trinkets), because she will appreciate that you thought of her.
A REALLY good book on the differences between men and women and their communication is called "For Men Only", by Shaunti Feldhann (also there is "For Women Only", same author). It is and to the point, and wonderfully details how women think, behave, and respond.
